How ANDOR Season 2 Will Reshape the Way You Watch ROGUE ONE – “Everything Becomes Way More Heavy”

With Andor Season 2 on the horizon, Diego Luna is telling fans that after watching the series, Rogue One is going to hit different.

The final season of the acclaimed Star Wars series picks up a year after the events of Season 1 and spans four years, leading right up to the moment Cassian Andor walks into the shadows of the Rings of Kafrene.

But, according to Luna, once we see what unfolds in these next episodes, Rogue One will carry a whole new emotional weight.

“I watched Rogue One before starting season 1, before starting season 2, and recently I watched it again,” Luna told GamesRadar+. “I do think it’s just going to make Rogue One even more deep and more dramatic because now you understand what these characters are leaving behind.”

That deeper understanding, he says, comes from spending time with Cassian across the 24 episodes of Andor, watching him evolve from a man hiding in the margins to someone willing to die for a cause he fully believes in.

“Now you understand what Cassian means when he gives that speech about doing terrible things for the rebellion and leaving everything behind,” Luna explains.

“I was seeing Rogue One and I was thinking of Maarva [Andor, Cassian’s mom] from season one, thinking of all these friends and connections and love stories that now we get to see in these two seasons and all the events that needed to happen for that ultimate sacrifice – and all the lives lost in a revolution.”

It’s not just political ideology or tactical decisions that weigh on Cassian, it’s also the personal ties. One of those is his relationship with Bix Caleen, played by Adria Arjona, which Luna hints becomes even more pivotal in Season 2.

“Everything becomes way more more heavy and meaningful. One of the most important elements of this last season is the connection and relation between Cassian and Bix,” he says. “That magnifies everything, every step of Rogue One becomes different because of this relation I think.”

So it sounds like Rogue One is going to pack quite a punch. I can’t wait to watch it!
