Ewan McGregor, who brought Obi-Wan Kenobi to life in the Prequel Trilogy and later in his own Disney+ series, revealed that his stunt double Nash Edgerton broke his teeth during that rainy showdown.
Speaking at Fan Expo Chicago (via EW), McGregor was asked if he remembered any rough injuries from filming Attack of the Clones. He immediately thought of Edgerton, who just happened to have his mom visiting set that day:
“He was my stunt double for years in Star Wars… His mum was on set to visit and he was doing, you know, the fight in the rain with Jango Fett.
“I had to do a big back flip and he landed and he broke his teeth! And he was like, he was so aware that his mum was there that he was just like, ‘I’m alright mum!’”
Of course, he was not alright. McGregor said someone gently escorted Edgerton’s mother away to get “a cup of tea” once it became clear how badly he was hurt. Luckily, McGregor reassured fans that Edgerton is doing fine today, even joking, “He’s got lovely teeth.”
For context, Edgerton is no lightweight in the stunt world. Beyond Star Wars, he worked on the second and third Matrix films, Superman Returns, The Equalizer, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and The Fall Guy.
He’s also collaborated with his brother Joel Edgerton on projects like Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby, and Felony. Outside of stunts, Nash has directed shorts, music videos, and episodes of television.
While Attack of the Clones wasn’t the most critically beloved entry in the saga, pulling in about $654 million at the box office compared to the higher numbers of The Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith, it still played a crucial role in expanding the mythology.
The events of the film set the stage for Star Wars: The Clone Wars and many stories that followed. And through it all, McGregor’s Obi-Wan remains one of the highlights.
As for the future of the Jedi Master, fans are still waiting to hear if McGregor will return for Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2. In the meantime, 2026 is shaping up to be a massive year for the galaxy far, far away with The Mandalorian & Grogu hitting theaters on May 22 and Ahsoka Season 2 expected to arrive on Disney+.
