Another rumor has surfaced claiming that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are set to reprise their iconic Peter Parker roles in Spider-Man 4.
Ever since the massive success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans have been hungry for more of Maguire and Garfield’s portrayals of the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
Both actors delivered emotional, nostalgic performances that audiences loved, and fans have been wondering when and where they would show up again.
This recent report comes from The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez, who said that both Marvel and Sony are pushing for Spider-Man 4 to have a “team-up movie” vibe, similar to Marvel’s approach with the upcoming Deadpool 3, which pairs Deadpool and Wolverine.
While one version of the story could see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man joining forces with Tom Hardy’s Venom to battle Knull, Perez claims that Maguire and Garfield are indeed returning for the film, and that their roles will reportedly feature “larger participation” than their memorable cameos in No Way Home.
The rumored storyline is described as a “mostly grounded story with some Multiversal elements,” but the scale of the project might lean more toward an “Avengers-level event.” If even half of these rumors are true, fans are in for another awesome Spider-Man film.
It was also previously reported that Charlie Cox is expected to reprise his role as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil in the series along with Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, aka the Punisher.
When previously talking about the film, producer Amy Pascal said: “We’re starting shooting the next Spider-Man movie with Destin Daniel Cretton. He’s a wonderful director. I love No Mercy, I love Short Term 12, I love Shang-Chi. I think he did a wonderful job.”
When it was brought up in the interview that Spider-Man: No Way Home felt like the perfect send-off for Spider-Man, Pascal responded: “Well, we have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker.”
“And he was going to focus on being Spider-Man because being Peter Parker was too hard.” She teased: “That’s what the movie is about.”
The script is being written by No Way Home writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, with Destin Daniel Cretton set to direct. Spider-Man 4 is slated for a July 24, 2026 release.
The possibility of seeing Maguire and Garfield rejoin Holland for another Spider-Man adventure is sure to excite fans. We’ll just have to wait and see if they actually do show up. I should point out that both actors have said they are open to reprising their roles again.
