AMC is developing a new Silicon Valley drama titled The Audacity, and Zach Galifianakis has officially joined the ensemble as a character named Carl Bardolph.
The series “is set in the bubble of Silicon Valley. It features a cast of billionaires, strugglers, dreamers and others, chasing unicorn status, maintaining marriages, micro-dosing in search of futuristic solutions to present day problems, and channeling the audacity required to build a world that they are creating in front of our eyes.
“All while navigating the real life issues associated with the real world impacts of AI, big data, and the accelerating tech revolution.”
Galifianakis plays Carl Bardolph, described as “wealthy beyond imagination, disillusioned beyond repair.” Carl has long since checked out of the tech rat race, watching from the sidelines with a mix of contempt and apathy.
But when Billy Magnussen’s character, Duncan, pulls him back into the chaos, Carl’s return isn’t noble or redemptive, “he comes back a problem.”
The series was created by Jonathan Glatzer, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer, and it also stars Sarah Goldberg, Lucy Punch, Simon Helberg, Rob Corddry, Meaghan Rath, Paul Adelstein, and newcomer Everett Blunck.
Produced by AMC Studios, The Audacity is expected to premiere next year with an eight-episode first season.
